Community Responses Following Berlin CSD Attack
Following the violent attack at the Christopher Street Day (CSD) event in Berlin, numerous cities held vigils in solidarity with the queer community. The Berlin CSD association issued a warning against the instrumentalization of the attack to fuel hatred towards Muslims. They emphasized that while Islamist terrorism must be clearly identified and condemned, it is equally important to resist attempts to blame or stigmatize Muslim people or those of specific cultural backgrounds. The association stated that they would not tolerate any fomenting of hatred targeting Muslims in the wake of the attack, which is suspected to be Islamist-motivated pending official confirmation [Source 1].
